Calling Online Shoppers! Cash Back Anyone?

I don't go back to school until the 7th.  I'm certainly not complaining, but it definitely gives me lots more dangerous time for spending money online, which can be extremely frightening for my credit card - poor little guy.  All the online sales are so awesome though, and there's nothing I love more than being able to get a good deal without having to do my makeup, change my clothes or get off of the couch.
In that spirit,  have you heard of this site?  When I told one of my PTA moms that I'm an online shopping junkie (hello teacher dresses!), she suggested I sign up for Ebates.  Go to the site before getting your internet shopping on, and you get cash back for every online purchase.  How did I not know about this before?!  The percentage depends on the store (you typically get 2%-6% cash back).  Almost all the places I shop are on there including: Amazon, Overstock, Scholastic, Kohl's, ModCloth, Groupon, ebay, iTunes and Oriental Trading.  If only Teachers Pay Teachers was on their list of stores, I'd make a fortune!

If you're an online shopper, I highly recommend signing up.  I just bought my contacts for next year, which I have to do anyway, and got 16% cash back.  (Which I quickly spent at the Victoria's Secret online sale and boots on Amazon).  :)

PS - My first Le Tote should arrive tomorrow!  I shall post pics!  :)

December Photo Funfest

I'm linking up with Miss Nelson at Run! Miss Nelson's Got the Camera (who by the way has one of my very favorite blog headers) and sharing some December pictures.

This might just be my favorite holiday gift ever!  What a fabulous kiddo and/or mom who asked her kiddo to do this.  :)

I got so excited about doing RACK with the kiddos this year.  We made bookmarks, cards, snowflakes, and art pieces/posters with candy canes.  They had tons of fun and so did I!

In reading, we looked at 4 different books and talked about common themes we found.  I was hoping to get across thankfulness, kindness, and compassion. My Penguin Osbert is my favorite holiday book.  Take a look at it if you haven't seen it before.
After reading one of the teacher ideas in the TpT 2012 Holiday 3-6 E-Book, I started a new classroom tradition of compliment bags, which quickly became "RACK sacks".  Students could write compliments and letters to classmates that would be saved in RACK sacks until the last day before the break.  All students brought in small gift items and filled up the sacks on the 21st.  The kids had a killer time looking through all the stuff and had a fun little gift bag to take home that day.  I think this might be a new Mrs. Smith's class tradition.

Elf Hunting!  Thanks so much to Rachel Lynette for this great freebie!  This was an awesome fast finisher that we did throughout the week.  Luckily our elves took pictures of where they were hiding.  Some of them were quite tricky.
Teacher Christmas!  Sadly, this year the high school basketball game got in the way of our Teacher Christmas tradition, so these photos are from past Teacher Christmases.  Every year we jet to my place right after work on the last day of school before the break and open (or show off) our teacher gifts all while eating yummy treats and chatting happily knowing the whole break is in front of us.
We just got back from our Christmas trip to Utah to visit our families.  Lily loves, loves, loves being in the car!

You can check out all the other December bloggers' pics and link up your own blog post over at Miss Nelson's blog.

Just Wild About Teaching

Welcome to 2nd Grade Pad

Netflix for Clothes? Yes please!

Guess what my hubby (and by my hubby I mean me via my hubby) got me for the holidays?  A subscription to Le Tote!
"What in the world is that" you ask?  It's like Netflix for clothes.  In each tote that is shipped to your home you get 3 articles of clothing and 2 accessories.  Once you wear them, send them back (free shipping both ways) and wait for your new tote to arrive.
If this works out and is as awesome as it sounds I'll be in teacher clothes heaven.

Try it out with me and see what you think!  If you give (or get) this as a gift you shouldn't have to join the waiting list, so find that special hubby, boyfriend, child, dog, or cat who might want to give you some clothing for the holidays.  You'll get your tote faster if it's a gift.

Have a great holiday break teachers.  You deserve it!

Two Ideas for RACK: Snowflakes for Sandy Hook and Holiday Cards

Thank you so much to the lovely ladies at 3 Teacher Chicks who introduced me to RACK (Random Acts of Classroom Kindness).  My students and I have had lots of fun doing kind projects for people around the school.
This week we're working on two different projects which my students have reminded me are not actually RACK, but more like ACK since they're not random or anonymous.

If you're looking for some last week before the break RACK activities here are two fun ones.
The Sandy Hook PTA is collecting snowflakes to welcome students back to school.  What a fun idea, and something students can do to contribute in a positive way to this community.  Check out the link for details and the address.  Martha Stewart has a great step by step set of instructions that can help students create one of those fancy 6 point snowflakes.

Dalton Dingus, a sweetie with cystic fibrosis, is trying to collect 100,000 holiday cards to break the Guinness World Record.  Here is the link to the news story with the address.

5 Days Left for $80 Gift Card Giveaway Plus other Giveaway Awesomeness

I apologize for the overboard-ness on the giveaway front, but I'm so excited about the one on my blog, plus tons of other teachers are in the holiday spirit too.  There are so many awesome prizes floating around out there and it's much better for me to spend my time checking these out and sharing them with you than it is for me to be reading facts about celebrities on or E!Online.  My husband agrees. :)

Here they are!
