Getting Ready for Wonka Week
I know it’s not good to bribe kids with candy, but with 12 days of school left I’m pulling out the big guns! Last week I started putting up the Wonka prizes one by one on the most unreachable shelf. I didn’t say much, but the kids certainly noticed. The silence with which I took them out and placed them on the shelf definitely helped increase the mystery and anticipation. When the bowl (see through of course – very important that they can actually see the small candy bars) showed up on Monday afternoon they could wait no longer. Today was day 1 of Wonka Week and so far it’s been a success!

What a fun idea! I do something similar my my kiddos. I had out carnival type tickets (that I found for a buck at the dollar store!) to kids who are on task, working hard, and participating during the day. They keep a ticket, and the duplicate goes into a bucket for a drawing at the end of the day. The kids love collecting their tickets and lining them up across their desks! At the end of the day, I pull out one or two tickets and the winners get a small prize. The kids look forward all day to those last few minutes of the day when I draw tickets!
